    Use anti-alias on the lines, and considering you have illustrator, use the vector tool to make lines/outlines.

    You can easily pen tool this with some anti-aliased lines, or you could use the vector tool in illustrator, of which I'm not really fond of.

    I don't think it's amazing considering you're copying off an actual character, but it's alright.

    I've never seen the pen tool in GIMP

    But, yeah, I'm not really fond of vectoring the lines either...
