    Dylloops flash games tutorial

    Ok so our first game should be something simple like a maze game.
    Lets start by making a start button.
    [center:qz4hmv1w]start button[/center:qz4hmv1w]
    1. Make some static text and type play or start.

    2. Select this text right click and select convert to symbol make that symbol a button and name it start.

    3. Double click your new button and you will see a screen that looks like this:

    4. Make a key frame in each of the frames.

    5. The frame that says up just leave the same. Select the frame that says over and click your button.

    6. In the properties panel select the color down list and let the color be a light green:

    7. Next select the down frame and again select the button and color it dark green.

    8. Finally select the hit frame and choose the rectangle tool and draw a rectangle that tightly fits the button. (Donít worry about the color because it will not show)

    9. Double click on any blank area to return to your main frame, and then make a new layer. Name this layer Code then press F9 or open up the actions menu and type:
    Code:
    stop();
    (This will stop the frame so that it wont go on to the next one while you are playing.)

    10. Now go back to your first layer and select the button and open up the actions menu and type:
    Code:
    on(release) {
    	gotoAndPlay(2);
    }
    (This will make the frame switch to the frame with the maze when you click the button.)

    11. Ok now on to the actual maze.

    [center:qz4hmv1w]The Maze[/center:qz4hmv1w]

    1. Ok now make a blank key frame on frame 2.

    2. Select the Code layer and open up the actions menu and type
    Code:
    stop();
    (Again this will stop the frame.)

    3. Turn on the onion skin by clicking this button:

    4. Now on this frame make a path with the line tool the path must not have any openings and must begin exactly where the start button was before using the onion skin:

    5. Now make a rectangle around the white area of your screen and make sure you have no fill and the outline is black.

    6. Now take the bucket tool and fill in the outside area of your maze with any color you like I chose green.

    7. Select this area and right click and select convert to symbol make this symbol a button and name it whatever you like.

    8. Select this symbol and open the actions panel again and type:
    Code:
    on(rollOver) {
    	gotoAndPlay(3);
    }
    (This will make the frame switch to the "You Lose" frame when you roll over it.)

    9. Make a blank key frame on frame three and make a "You Lose" page with a play again button the same way you made the first button but this time instead of making the code:
    Code:
    on(release) {
    	gotoAndPlay(2);
    }
    make it:
    Code:
    on(release) {
    	gotoAndPlay(1);
    }
    (You change the 1 to a 2 because you need to direct it to the first frame.)

    (Make this frame stop the same way you made the first one. But remember to make it on the Code layer.)

    10. Ok now go back to the frame with the maze and make a dot at the end of the maze that looks like this one:

    11. Select this dot and convert it to a button and name it whatever you want.

    12. Now the action script for this button should be:
    Code:
    on(rollOver) {
    	gotoAndPlay(4);
    }
    (This is to convert the frame to the "You Win" page.)

    13. Now make another blank frame on frame 4 and make this frame stop the same way you made the first one as well. Making sure it is on the Code layer.

    14. Make this frame a you win page and make a button that says next level with the code:
    Code:
    on(release) {
    	gotoAndPlay(5);
    }
    (Again the 5 is so it will go to the 5th frame, where you will put the next maze.)

    15. Make the next page a maze also the same way you made the first and repeat these steps.

    [center:qz4hmv1w]remember to...[/center:qz4hmv1w]

    1. Stop every frame.

    2. Make a new "You Win" page with the action on the button saying where the next maze starts.

    3. No need to make a new "You Lose" page just use the last one.

    here is an example: maze example

    [center:qz4hmv1w]Target Game[/center:qz4hmv1w]

    Ok lets make another simple game.

    1. In your first frame open up the actions menu and type:
    Code:
    score=0;
    (This will make the score reset to 0 when you start.)

    2. Go to the text tool and select dynamic text:

    3. In one of the top corners make a text box using the dynamic text. (This will be your score box so if you want type score above it.)

    4. Now with this textbox still selected type
    Code:
    score
    in the variable box, and make the color whatever you choose.

    5. Now draw a simple circle target and right click it and make it a symbol. Let this symbol be a movie clip and name it target.

    6. Also name the instance name target.

    7. Now double click the target and select frame 5 and click F6

    9. Now to make the target appear randomly we need to make sure nothing is selected and open up the actions menu in the first frame and type the following:
    Code:
     _root.duplicateMovieClip("target",target,(_x=random(550), _y=random(310)+90));
    (This will duplicate the target and randomly make it reappear on the screen.)

    10. And to make the target count the score when you click it you need to double clink any blank area and (Making sure the target is selected) Open up the actions menu and type:
    Code:
    onClipEvent (load){
    this._x = random(550);
    this._y = random(310)+90;
    	}
    	on (press){
    		_root.score+=5;
    	this.gotoAndPlay (4);
    	}
    (This is based off the previous script and will make the target disappear and add 5 to the score when it is clicked.)

    Here is an example: Target Example

    [center:qz4hmv1w]Things To Remember[/center:qz4hmv1w]

    1. To make the game harder reduce the number of frames in the target menu, and to make it easier add frames.

    2. This should all be one simple frame.

    Re: Dylloops flash games tutorial

    Question on step 9 and 10.
    9. double click on any blank area to return to your mane frame, and then make sure there is nothing selected, then press f9 or open up the actions menu and type:
    Code:
    stop();

    10. select the button again and open up the actions menu and type:
    Code:
    on(release) {
       gotoAndPlay(2);
    }
    When entering the first code, do I select the button?...because on step 10, it says select the button again.

    Re: Dylloops flash games tutorial

    Before I start your tutorials(s) are riddled with spelling and lack capitalization please fix that as it will make your tutorial look nicer. A separate layer for AS (that has to go on frames) would make the code a little cleaner, also you should point out that a custom mouse pointer would add more individuality and style to your game(s). Also there is little explaining of the basic functions that make up your codes. Lastly using frame labels(or comments) would just make it easier when you have to edit your code, well it does for me. Ok tutorial(s).

    Re: Dylloops flash games tutorial

    Can you add a tutorial part for replay buttons?
    Also, can you explain what some of the simple codes do, instead of just saying...copy and paste this.

    Edit: Nevermind, I see it.

    Re: Dylloops flash games tutorial

    Can you make add a part to the target game, to teach us how to end the game at a certain score?
