    When does life begin.

Okay, the title says it all. When does an an embryo become a person, is it when the sperm hits the egg, is it when the embryo (baby) can survive outside the womb, is it when the ambilical chord is cut (this is the goverment believes as only then do you become a british citizen.)
    Or something different.
Say your view and say why you dismissed the others.

I believe the baby is an actual person when it comes out of the womb. It's really only then that it has a proper sense of self-awareness. When it's in the womb, it knows nothing, or near enough to nothing and has no memories. So, it wouldn't be cruel to kill it in the womb.

lol, to be honest I don't care, I won't ever have to give birth.

I think that as soon as the brain starts working, to pump blood, breath and all that, that is when life begins.

    I disagree.

I'm sure you start to live when you heart starts to beat. That's my theory.

Marshmallows - Seriously cut it with this "Unfunny Joke" thing you have going on at the moment. And onotp of that, you spam the most intelligent sub-forum. What's the point?
THis is your warning from me. Anymore and I won't hesitate to ban.

Now I agree that life begins when the brain "starts up" and everything starts to work. But think of it this way, was your computer "born"/ made/whatever you want to name it, when:
The parts were all ready to be assembled?
    The parts were all assembled?
When you boot it up for the very first time?

As Soon as the sensory systems begin to devolop to the point that you are aware of your surroundings, it doesn't matter if you KNOW where you are, just that you are somewhere.

Or when you get laid ))(*

    not lol

and I don 't believe life begins when the senses develope, I bel;ieve it begins when the sperm hits the egg, and the life process begins. If the feotus (sp?) is developing, it doesn't very well matter whether or not it can tell where it is, it is still a living independant life form. As well as when does life begin conciously, is whren you first memory is.
    I'm gay.
