    Should we gamble?

Alright, alot of people have been saying NO GAMBLING. In my state of Alabama, the government is trying to get rid of casinos. Casinos have already been shut down. What do you think? Gamble or No Gamble?

I say No gambling, because it cause people to get addicted to a simple slot machine and they loose hundreds just doing that.

Why not? If people want to lose all their money playing then what's the problem? Besides the income generated via taxes for the government is pretty big, and more money, means more security, better roads, more available jobs, you name it.

People already lose hundreds in alcohol and and cigarettes, yet they're perfectly legal, so there's no point in your argument.

It should definatly be allowed. You have no right to ban people from gambling nor does the government.

They should be reopened. If the person gets addicted to gambling, thats there problem. Not the goverments.

If you look at it the way I do theirs no point in it. Except in that 1/100,000,000 chance you will get lucky and win the JP. But as much as people try and lose they still do it. As its their choice too so the gov. should have no say whats so ever in wether the Casinos stay or go. But personaly I couldnt care less.

The government can't shut down Casino's. Well, they could- but it's unfair.
The owner of the Casino is making their money that way. It's almost like
saying: "The citizens are wasting their money on movies, lets close the
movie theaters." And then the owner of the theater stops making money.

It's an honest living, and its the people's fault for losing as much money
as they do. At least its going to someone.

    Okay...

A: The government can shut down casinos because a lot of the bills that regulate gambling for these said casinos need to go through the state government first before a casino decides that it is going to put in table-games or slot-machines. Don't believe me, look at some articles about Pennsylvania's bills that were passed alone for just table-games.

B: It's not unfair considering the state government has a say in it and usually voting, at least that's what happened in Pennsylvania when the state was trying to decide whether or not to pass the table-games bill for casinos. The people usually have a say in it, is what I'm getting at meaning there is mixed opinions. I mean, would you rather have, the government completely legalizing gambling altogether which could up the crime rates outside of casinos, or would you rather have the government regulate what we can and can't do when it comes to gambling?

C: There is a big difference to a movie theater and gambling at a casino though. One is providing you with a service, which in this case would be the movie, which is a form of entertainment, while the other one is providing you a good reason to mindlessly piss away money and get addicted to gambling. Sure, movies also mindlessly piss away money but when you go see a movie though, you aren't constantly losing money whereas in gambling, you need to keep paying to play, a movie is a one time deal once you get your ticket[s] and your snacks because they usually last you the whole movie.

If a person wants to gamble, for all means, let him/her gamble considering it's their hard-earn cash that they are making weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, etc.

In a way, it should be banned, and then again it shouldn't.
A: Because it causes people to lose money and waste the goverment's money.
B: If they do ban it people will do it illegaly, so it would be a waste to arrest all the gambling addicts.

But whose fault is it though if someone wastes their money though on something as stupid as this? Is it mine? Is it yours? Is it the government? No, it's the holder of that money, he/she rightfully earned that money working for the government in some sort of job whether it'd be in a grocery store, or a movie theater, they are the ones at fault in a way, but still though, they earned that money, I think they have a right to do what they please with it considering it's theirs. Plus, the government really isn't losing or wasting money anyway because they get some of it back due to taxes and other fees which go straight to your state's government and the federal government, but more or less, the state's government.
