    The most alarming part of the statistics is that if you look at national stray dog statistics in the UK from a few years ago, only 6% of stray dogs ended up getting put down.

    Now, that's not very accurate either. You need to remember that PETA doesn't target the same animals that the government does. The government picks up animals off the street, so PETA doesn't really touch that. Most of the animals PETA get have been heavily abused as opposed to simply lost/abandoned, so comparing those numbers to an organization that picks animals off the street isn't totally balanced. Still though, 6% vs 98% is a pretty big jump.
