I know those are %100 real as I've seen them in one of the collection books. Let me look at wikipedia before I comment further, seeing as I was unable to read it all so fast

EDIT: Well I found it, although I couldnt find the part where it says something about him starving to death on wikipedia (it seems that part was erased by someone after the movie you showed was made)
I dont think it really means anything, like Jim Davis said, it was just meant to scare people, and I recall the first time I read it, it scared me and really made me think about it. Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure that strip has actually had a deep subconcious impact on my life.
    Here's what Jim Davis said:
"During a writing session for Halloween week, I got the idea for this decidedly different series of strips. I wanted to scare people. And what do people fear most? Why, being alone. We carried out the concept to its logical conclusion and got a lot of responses from readers."
Here's all the strips links for reference:
I think the only way you can back up the idea that Garfield is in a delusional sate is by the simple word "Denial" since it is immediately after his denial that Jon and Odie come back. But like I said, although it's fun to imagine he's really dead, I doubt it. So unless someone finds current evidence that Garfield is meant to be dead, I wont belive it.

Heey, i have seen the finish-version of that, and it really does exist.. I mean, when i was younger, I was ordering Garfield ( Karvinen in finish ), and I remembered that story, but it was just wrote in finish, and the pics was coloured..
But i was so young then, that i really didnt understand the whole thing, but by looking it now, it realy is pretty depressing.. And little childrens read that :S Must be scary for them, if they understand it fully :/

I didn't understand the comics at first, but now I do. I think Garfield is dead. Those comics were made in 1989 it says. I was never a big fan. That's really sad.
