    Classical + Rock = Amazing?

Am I the only one who thinks that Canon in D is amazing, and that the Canon Rock by Funtwo [viewable on YouTube] is equally as awesome?

The best thing about metallica is their San Fransisco Orchestra performance, right?

I love the concept of classical plus rock but nothing I've heard has really captured what I'm looking for.

The guy on youtube played the song transcribed by JerryC. There was a few pages on it in Guitar World 2 or so issues ago. It came with the original tab, so if anyone wants it I can scan it <_<

Anyway, there are certain types of classical music that go well with rock. The Canon good for rock because there's no real places where you hold a single note for more than 1 beat (if the song is in common time, I forget.) so at least it's exciting. Canon's in general are good for rock music because they tend to be up-beat. I remember playing a sonata I learned on piano on guitar, and it learned okay. But if you play something slower (romantic era pieces for example) it sounds a lot worse.

My 2 random cents that didn't have much to do with the topic.

    lol, I don't think that's what he meant. : P

Yngwie Malmsteen does this kind of thing a lot, but like Ham said, not really what you're looking for.

Definitaly. A big one for me is Spmphony X's The Odyssey.

It really is aa briliiant combination.
But Ywngie Malmsteen, oe whatever, most of his stuff, while he is a great guitarist and what he plays is technical and pretty impressive, doesn't sound good, the same goes with Herman Li, he'll be playing and it'll sound great and then he pulls one of those little hammeron-pulloff combos that he does and it sounds like crap.

    But yes Classical+Rock=Win

    FFVII Advent Children soundtrack anyone?

Take a look at One Winged Angel from Advent Children. Pretty spiffy combination of both kinds of instrumentation.

Nightwish also do that kind of thing too. Look for them.
