    classic rock or current rock?

I like classic rock myself. But i like bands like Nirvanna And Metallica who spilled over into the 90's or started in the 90's. But current rock these days is just... eh.... to me, even the lder foo fighters like the coulour and the shape i like but eh bands like Disturbed are just... eh... so give me your opinion on this. Classic rock or current rock?

A bit of both really, I love Queen and The Who and stuff, but at the same time I love the Foo Fighters and Muse. It's a really hard question for me.

It's all good. You may as well be asking "oranges or elephants". Two kettles of fish entirely O:

Both are good. Some modern rock blows though.

Re: classic rock or current rock?

Here's the thing. There was a lot of shitty, generic rock produced in the 70's. Nowadays, people only talk about the best bands from that era. The reason is that the generic boring bands didn't stand the test of time. They were pretty popular then, but their music wasn't innovative enough to make a lasting impression. So essentially, when people talk about classic rock, they generally only include the most groundbreaking and creative bands from the time.

Compare that to today. The difference is, the generic modern rock is so new that it hasn't been forgotten yet. It's still new enough that people listen to it simply because it's popular and in CD stores rather than it having any musical qualities that make it great. I'm willing to bet in 2040, 95% of current rock will be totally forgotten and we'll only remember a few gems.

You're asking to compare music that is timeless to music that's only popular because of its release date. It isn't fair to compare the best music of a generation to the best and worst music of the current generation.
