    Pirate Metal :D

Power metal band Alestorm's album: Captain Morgan's revenge(released 2008 by Napalm Records) has a very.. "piratey" influence, using instruments such as the accordion to add to the musical value, thus comes a never before explored genre of music known as Pirate Metal, which is added to the ever growing number of sub-genres of Metal. I stumbled across them via youtube, and they actually grew on me, everyone was shouting "HELL YA! PIRATE METAL!!!" This is confirmed on Alestorm's Myspace where they say "TRUE SCOTTISH PIRATE METAL" I have linked one of their songs below. I thought it was pretty amusing and I had to share it here. Enjoy

People have been talking about ninja metal a lot recently but I haven't checked it out yet, I'll have to do that, it sounds interesting.

It's really not bad. I wouldn't call it pirate 'metal' though, cus it's not much different than normal irish/punk type music, save the guitar solos near the end.

Yes, it's really categorized under power metal, but the band has given their style the name "pirate metal" because it does sound like the kind of scurvy swashbuckling seafaring music you would hear if pirates had double pedals, electric guitars, and bass guitars. Their fans seem to take to it very well.

    Glad you guys like it
