    District 9

This movie revived the Sci-Fi genre, the cgi is amazing, the story is gripping, and the action is awesome. In my opinion, I enjoyed it more than Star Trek. The trailers aren't exactly that gripping, and although it does look like a typical alien-versus-human war, it's actually a fugitive story of a very unlikely hero in a very unique universe.

The only let-down of the movie were the scenes with the Nigerians, the acting was rather bland in my opinion.

Currently on Rotten Tomatoes it has an 87%, which is a very fair score.

Well thats strange, because i live in Canada and it was restricted at the theatre i went to...

Anyways, This is probably my favourite movie, i mean, not only were there AMAZING action scenes, but it was so emotional. The atmosphere just brings you in, and it just feels real. Its not big-budget action blow-out (The budget was 30 million, which is apparently low) its more of a humble "how would we react" scenario. In short, its everything nothing you expect and more.

Outstanding movie. I'm seriously considering seeing it a second time today. It's just that good.

Gritty, Violent, (kind of...) Emotional...Sounds like the best movie of 2009 to me.

Effects were amazing, best I've ever seen. I also like the story, and how it makes you think and reconsider an alien encounter. It was pretty cool seeing how the ship wouldn't hover over New York or something, but over a city in Africa. Very cool, too, how they didn't stray towards the generic, ALIENS ARE ON EARTH KILL KILL KILL, plot, and portrayed the aliens as being enthralled in the African culture of violence and poverty.

Overall, the best of 2009 so far, and it was cool seeing a different story of first contact.

Damnit, well. Good thing I have three friends over 18. :/

I would enjoy watching this movie, not really psyched for it though.

As a follow up to what I said earlier, I did, in fact, see the movie again today. Seen it twice and it's only two days in...

    Where did my thread go?

Yeah, looks awesome. Not like any other alien movie I've seen thus far.

I got sick of all the buildup, but I loved everything after.
