Try Immoral Technique and Wu Tang Clan.

Most of those are pretty well known, bro. Despite Wu-Tang Clan having the best shit out there, they're still one of the most famous rap groups of all time.

Now, for underground stuff, there's a lot of it. I can suggest:

MF Doom - Relatively unknown to the general public, although famous online. Sick shit if you ask me.
    Dead Bent - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hL5cun2kQ6M

J Dilla - Despite this video having over 1,000,000 views, he's pretty unknown to my knowledge. Like Doom, he's a sick sampler and rapper, too.
    Won't Do - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vVYza0NiWuU

Quasimoto - Alter ego of Madlib on psychedelic mushrooms, his stuff is pretty laid back and cool. Great sampler, too.
    Come on Feet - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_5edxArGT8

Monsta Island Czars - Group extremely similar to the Wu-Tang, it involves the alter egos of MF Doom and MF Grimm. Samples are usually rehashed MF Doom beats and such, but they have great lyrics.
    1,2...1,2 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9InFQF5rCmY

DJ Shadow - Instrumental hip-hop with samples from Rap to Rock, his best work is his Endtroducing... album.
    Midnight in a Perfect World - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmzHRGoKca0

Digible Planets - Jazz Rap that is sort of an acquired taste, but still real good stuff.
    Rebirth of Slick(Cool Like That) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZY0c2ZAeMK4

GZA - Because Crono put Raekwon in his list, I'm gonna put the GZA in mine. Best lyricist in the Wu-Tang in my opinion. I felt that the greatest rap album of all time deserved to be put at the end of my list. Check out Liquid Swords, it'll blow your mind

If you like Necro, check Mr Hyde (Click) or Ill Bill (Click). Pretty much anything from La Cocka Nostra too.

My personal favorites are MF DOOM (Click) (Click), Outkast (Click) (Click), Geto Boys (Click) (Click) and MF Grimm (Click) (Click).

Some Tribe Called Quest, Kool G Rap, Saigon, Yukmouth, Tha Realest, Zion I, Kool Keith, Grouch & Eligh, P.O.S, J Dilla, Canibus, Rakim, JR&PH7, Elzhi, Big L, Gang Starr and Eazy E wouldnt hurt. There are tons more that I could name

    Re: Underground Rap music.

I suggested those better known groups for the sake of finding links

    Here are some lesser known:

2mex, Aamir, Al Tarba, Alps Cru, Al'Tarba, Ancient Astronauts, Bee Uno, Bekay, Benefit (the song behold is sick), Bike For Three, Black Moon, Braintax, Cas Metah, Ceschi, Common, Das EFX, Deuce Eclipse, El Da Sensei & Returners, Fokis, Ghostface Killah, The Herd, Indefinate Etticate, Jewel T, Kof, Leak Bros, Majors, Napoleon

that's all I feel like listing at the moment, probably listed too many anyway
