Anyone ever notice that 99.9% of good bands play emo rock?

theres lots of good bands, and chances are they always play at least 1 emo rock song.
    wanna name any, people?

The mainstream bands do it because they get paid to make an "emotional"/"gripping" song that will "get in touch with the listeners heart".

The unknown bands do it because they either:
A: Want to take a new approach to music
B: Already have been doing it, hurr durr.

The middle stream bands just do it for kicks.

It's really not too hard to get the singer to sing in a croaky/low volumed voice to a few pluckings of the E string on a guitar.

A song that doesn't try to evoke some kind of emotional reaction is pointless.

Exactly right. Sort of proves why Soulja Boy is so crap.

I was ready to leave the thread and leave it at that, but this. I hadn't thought of it, but I definitely agree. If you're just listening to noise that you're hearing but not really.. LISTENING to, you might as well listen to a crowd talking.

^And James makes a good point. "Shizzle mcdizzle in my nizzle hoe bizzle shizzle" doesn't really 'speak' to me. Just lets me know the person singing to me is slightly retarded.

    SUPA MAN DAT HOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

God I fucking hate Soulja Boy, with a flaming passion.

Also what Darren says is true, a song has to have meaning to truly be considered music.

Good songs dont have to be "emo rock"
You really need to get out more if 99.9% of good music is "emo rock"

There is also many other reasons why Soulja Boy sucks at singing in general.
    -----------
Personally, I don't see why "emo rock" is so bad to some people and they make such a big deal about it and then go and say that so and so is better because it's a better genre and all, but I think it definitely outbeats the bands that don't put any emotion into their songs, sing in a monotone voice or sing in certain scales that make them look like they are good. A song needs to have emotion for it truly to be good I think.

Which sounds better though, someone who trails randomly at singing and talks about pimps, drugs, money, etc. or someone who is actually taking the time to see if their music can actually have an effect on the person listening to the song itself.

Stop being such a faggot. Prescot said it nicely, he could've easily said: 'There are other bands too, not just emo faggots who scream about how bad their lives are, and how they've given up their shitty poetry career due to how shit their lives are.' Go listen to some proper Hip-Hop and then say that again. You emo twat.
