    Bass Guitar

I'm thinking of getting a bass guitar, though I'm not too sure where to start. Obviously I'm a beginner so I don't need anything too expensive, but I still want something that sounds decent and will last me a while. I don't know too much other than that. Anybody have suggestions or things I should know?

You can start by looking for brands.

There's a bunch there, you can go check on their website for more informations but on this site you can see how expensive they are.

Also, it would help to know what music would you like to play or what you're listening to.

Do you have any sort of budget? Ibanez GSR200 is about $200, and I've heard it's the best beginning guitar. Keep in mind that you'll also need an amp.

Fender and Ibanez tend to have beginner guitars packaged with small (10-15W) amps for around 250-300USD. That may be a good place to start.

I'd go Ibanez all the way, Fender just isn't the same.

I'd also say Ibanez; that was all I used back when I played bass.

    Re: Bass Guitar

Thanks guys. I found out my neighbor has a bass that she doesn't use anymore so I might get hers, but if not this is helpful. My price range is probably <$300. And I'll probably play a variety of stuff; though I don't like playing with a pick.
