    MUST READ! Bill S.978

There is a bill that the congress want to pass that would threatens to take away the ability of the public, to upload youtube videos that include games in them.

I must stress, that this is not the governments intention, but it would become law due to the wording in the bill being very broad, and not precise.

I would say more about it, but this guy explains it all very clearly.

    Read the bill here:

Please act! This short form takes 20 seconds to fill out and will voice your opinion!

E: I would've placed this in gaming, but it does affect other types of media, such as music etc.

    There's already a thread:

But anyway, I think this sort of sucks. I don't do LP's or anything, but I do enjoy watching others online.

I made a topic about this already in the debate hall, but it doesn't hurt giving my 2-cents to the bill.

If they want the bill to pass, they are going to have to completely build it back up from the bottom because the wording is atrocious. The bill's intent is not to affect the gaming industry as companies are implementing features that allow their customers to upload their game-play content to their YouTube channel; furthermore, game companies who heavily rely on reviews and the such would not let this pass unless the wording were to be changed. The bill is intended for the streaming of videos and music illegally without consent of the copyright holder, which means sites like Netflix would still be allowed to exist since you pay Netflix to view the copyrighted material by legal means since they pay to acquire copyrights from your big name companies like Warner Bros. Plus, if you even look on OpenCongress, the people that support the bill are and I quote:

as previous stated: Game developers already plan, if this gets passed, to put in a wording in their copy right clause that give us gamers a pass to post "free advertisment" that they make money off from us buying the games.
