    Hip Hop Is Dead

I know it might be too soon or too late, but I think what Nas was saying is true. Hip hop is dead.

For example, look at the new music that comes out.

I'm not really into hip hop and shit but its the same with all good music: It's not dead, it's hard to find.

I don't hear the difference with any other Hiphop. Sounds like the same crap it always was.

    Re: Hip Hop Is Dead

I wouldn't say it's dead, there's still a large number of artists who make hip-hop. This is just what popular music has evolved to; popular musical styles are always changing and this is the next step.

And if you don't like the music then don't listen to it. I don't care what genre it is as long as I think it's good.

I suppose you are absolutely right.

Wow, way to be open minded. If you don't like the genre that's fine, but don't make such obnoxious generalized statements.

    Re: Hip Hop Is Dead

Of course I see what you mean, there is an obvious difference in quality, both lyrically and technically, but that doesn't mean I like the music. Good or bad hip hop sounds equally awkward to me tbh so it doesn't make much difference.

btw, how is "hiphop is dead" not an obnoxious generalized statement

    Re: Hip Hop Is Dead

He said all hip-hop was crap. Also, the title of this thread is based off of a song made by another veteran hip-hop artist. It's not a generalized statement, it's a direct reference.

Whoa man. You're telling me that as a genre of music became more popular, the things that made it great in the first place became diluted in order to make it appeal to a larger audience? Holy shit.

I agree man. Rap is dead. So is country music, the blues, any type of electronic music that you would recognize the name of, folk music, jazz, pop, R&B, rock and metal. Actually, pretty much all music is dead. I'm glad you pointed this out to us.

IMO, rock is still thriving. Plenty of good artists and good songs
    are still coming out.

But I still agree with everything else you said their.
