    The Music Discussion/Discovery Thread

This thread is for discussing any and all kinds of music and for posting those amazing bands/songs which turn out to be unknown or don't get the recognition they deserve. Also feel free to post some of your own songs if you do that sort of thing.

    •———————•
    Rules:

    - No judging another person based on their taste in music. Everyone likes different things, this applies to music.

    - Likewise, don't say your favorite genre/band/song is the best/better than anyone else's (unless, of course, you are joking.)

    - Share music and have fun.

    •———————•

I'll start off by posting some small bands:

    [spoiler:tt6gsa10]Bands:

    The Silent Comedy:
    http://soundcloud.com/the-silent-comedy

    Dead Man's Bones:
    http://grooveshark.com/#!/artist/Dead+M ... es/1104337

Jeramiah Red (opened for the silent comedy, was amazed at how good they were)
    http://soundcloud.com/jeramiahredmusic

    Songs:

Cowboys & Indians - Buster Blue:
    http://soundcloud.com/busterblue-1/cowboys-indians

    Rise Up - Buster Blue:

Love Songs And Lullabyes - Skittish
    http://soundcloud.com/skittish/love-songs-and-lullabyes

(also, should I make a list for bands and songs (by genre) that are posted?)[/spoiler:tt6gsa10]

    Re: The Music Discovery Thread

I'll post some pretty well known stuff that I figure most people on DD don't know about

The Microphones/Mount Eerie/Whatever the fuck else this guy does. Just a warning that this is arguably the best song he's ever made but the rest of his stuff is still pretty great
    [youtube:1uakqlur]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNfKOtlNuWE[/youtube:1uakqlur]

The Magnetic Fields/The Gothic Archies/Anything Stephin Merritt is involved with
    [youtube:1uakqlur]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQOrLamT0n4[/youtube:1uakqlur]

    neat beats
    [youtube:1uakqlur]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=puyc9llhtX4[/youtube:1uakqlur]

    Pinback
    [youtube:1uakqlur]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=krTzn0kk3ss[/youtube:1uakqlur]

Silver Jews (unfortunately, again this is arguably their best song in my opinion)
    [youtube:1uakqlur]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNBc3J3GEzk[/youtube:1uakqlur]

    Sledding With Tigers
Their new album is on http://sleddingwithtigers.com/ and nothing's on Youtube but here's an older one
    [youtube:1uakqlur]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OANOfW6iRm4&feature=relmfu[/youtube:1uakqlur]

    Strand of Oaks
    [youtube:1uakqlur]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tT-vPSY6vbw[/youtube:1uakqlur]

    He lost all his friends
    He didn't need his friends
He lived with his mother and repeated himself[/center:16hbm10o]

then my friend presented me that song from the duo Younger Brother

Ah, Silent Comedy is awesome. Did you find out about them from the Dark Souls trailer?

They came up on a pandora station. I found about the trailer (was awesome) when I looked a song up on YouTube.

Edit: another good band, Finn Riggins:

I see BEER BEER STRONQ brought up The Microphones. Good stuff, let me tell you.

As for me I'm going to try and leave Doth Grops out of this thread.
Shugo Tokumaru (Japanese multi instrumentalist that pretty much makes indie feel good pop)
    [youtube:fyw3bjqb]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hfgWg6eiLs[/youtube:fyw3bjqb]

Woods (just some good indie folk rock)
    [youtube:fyw3bjqb]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0p_fFzZZ98[/youtube:fyw3bjqb]

    Duster (slow sadcore)
    [youtube:fyw3bjqb]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NmzrxhDEvBA[/youtube:fyw3bjqb]

Allo Darlin' (one of my favorite albums this year. twee pop)

Anything by Chad VanGaalen is pretty darned awesome. I'd recommend the album Soft Airplane, which is my favorite by him. I'm sure many of you know the crazy cannibalistic music video for Molten Light, which is his most known song.

Sigur Rós is also an amazing band, specifically with this album ( ). All the songs are titled 'Untitled', and the lyrics aren't actually lyrics; they're simply gibberish sung in Icelandic phonetics.
