    Game of Thrones Season 3

So episode one was out today. To prepare, I rewatched all the old episodes, in like 3 days. Was good man.

[spoiler:3etlhx5j]I'm so happy that the guy from the kings guard is back. I forget his name, the elder guy who just saved Dany. I was disappointed there was little of Rob Stark, and none of Arya. I'm so excited for this season though[/spoiler:3etlhx5j]

Can't wait to start reading the books.

Still working on re-watching season 2 right now. My friends and I made a deal to watch every season 3 episode together so I'm just stalling, really.

Honestly I was kind of turned down by the first episode, It felt pretty flat. It may be due to all the extended trailer footage and the fact I've read the book though.

Really? I think it's a great step from season 2. You have to remember that the first episodes are always the weakest in the later seasons.

I know that they want to re-introduce all important storylines in that first episode, but compared to the books it felt rushed. It seems that the farther the series go, the more it starts to differ from the books.
Don't get me wrong though, I still enjoy the series a shitload.

Also, I'm pretty sure you guys will enjoy the show Vikings. It's like the poor mans version of Game of Thrones.

I've heard the books are just excellent. I can't wait to start reading them. Unfortunately I have a long list of books to go through before I start them.

You should not be in a rush to read them, the final book isn't even finished yet and the waiting is horrible.
Reading the books first also makes the series less fun, I advice doing it vice-versa.

Re: Game of Thrones Season 3

Yeah, I heard it's being written, but people are very worried about George R.R. Martin's age and health, to the point where it may not be finished.

Honestly, I prefer it the other way around. Comparing what I read to what I watch is great, because books are meant to create imagination. I've found Lord of the Rings good to read, but definitely haven't been as captivated with the imagery as I was with works such as Harry Potter and others. I find the series is a general overview of what it is meant to look like, whereas reading is so much more personal. It's you're own reflection of what you think the world and characters look like.

I haven't watched the new episode yet but I'm stoked. Such a cool show.
