Yaaaay, do you have any work to show?

Most people favor photoshop over illustrator because it's more fun and vectors are a bitch to work with (unless you're just fucking around with the warp brush).

I started off doing stuff like this:

Yeah, it took tears of blood. It looks easy but making brushes is a pain in the ass.

You'd already shown me the first one, but the other ones are great. Colours are almost pastel like which I love & the style is really nice, sort of childish. How did you get that brush effect? literally just a brush with pressure sensitivity or what?

not really any criticism I can give other than it'd be nicer as full portraits rather than floating heads (I don't think it adds anything if that was intentional or whether you just couldn't be bothered doing the bodies)

    Re: Adobe Illustrator

I actually prefer photoshop over illustrator for a lot of vectoring

but anyway I really like the film poster it's neat, the portraits are ok but extremely simple, if you made the brush or whatever it is yourself then that's neat but even so

based on your portraits you might like macabre's stuff, have you ever seen it?: http://ms-makabre.deviantart.com/

I started using illustrator more often than photoshop after PS refused to let me use type. I used to make icons but I haven't had much instruction in any programs or art mediums besides 2D/3D and a little graphic design, which is where I made the poster. If anyone cares, the project was a self-portrait. The yellow represents the racism I grew up against (the joy of being Asian in an all-white community, yeah!) and the phone and the windows reference the gap between my family and the rest of society. I'd go more into it, but only if you pm me because the poster is basically my LIFE STORY!1!!!

As for the more recent pieces, I've always liked simplifying things to that extent. I do admit that they only look pretty and don't inspire anything, but I feel as if I took that style and implemented it into several pieces to tell a story it would amount to something more.

Thanks for the reference to macabre's work, I really like it!

    Re: Adobe Illustrator

I use Illustrator most because I use it extensively for work.

Photoshop for masking images, color correction, photo stuff.
Illustrator for putting together all the elements, text, images, etc.
