    Ste's animation thread

Yeah, just trying to get something that looks half decent. I'm looking for some constructive critisicms so I can try and make my animations better.

    Simple Punch test:

    Hammer test:

    Kick Test:

For some reason the hammer goes slower than what its supposed to. I think its supposed to be 1.5 to 2 times faster than what it is on the page. Not much I can do about it though, I've rendered the file several times and it still goes slow.

Hopefully I'll have some better stuff to upload soon!

    Re: punch test (low beg?)

Instead of adding it as an attachment, save it as .gif and upload it to http://yourimg.in/ and then paste it between the img tags.
    Code:
    [img]yourimg link[/img]
Anyway I thought that animation was really really good. I think that the animation could easily be medium to high beginner if you fix up the shakiness, I noticed everything seemed to flow quite well apart from the shakiness. All you really need to do it fix it up, you pretty much know what you are doing. Try and make something longer with same style as the punch animation, apart from the shakiness. Good Luck on animating!

Low beginner for now, almost medium to high though.

    Re: punch test (low beg?)

thanks for the link thing, I tried using deviantart but 1) I had to filter it cause of violence and 2) It was gifraped when I uploaded it there (worse than the one there)

To be fair on myself, I'm probably (on average) more of a low beg, this is definatly one of my better animations I've done, but now I know how to do it, I can try and do it again more regularly.

And so on that note, more anims!

Again, all quite short, but some of my better ones I geuss. still not as good as the first one though

    Re: Ste's animation thread

The major issue i see is easing and smoothness.
if you don't know what it is, check out darren's tut, you can find it in the tutorial section.
other from that, you don't have (long) enough animations to be ranked properly (I know it is hard to make long ones!).
from what i can see now, low-med beg.
    keep it up

You have good ideas, and you are good, but the punch test looks stiff because of the freezes. They probably make it look dramatic, but it seems like my computer is freezing up at certain points. Stick with normal flow, and slowly work on things.

And shot again. And again. And if you die you will still be shot again.

O.k man Yo anims are aight lol
Yes you are low-Mid beginner But you have the idea down.
I would suggest making some more easing test like the hammer animation.Try making a ball test thats like the best practice for easing, and physics.

most of your animations are stiff,or choppy. I did however think that the combo you made was pretty good Except that last movement It was a little awkward.

The bottle animation had some decent movement but the bottle fell a little to fast. Also the person left the screen a little to fast

That punch was cool I liked the angles you used But even though you did that the animation lacked easing it also had no force what so ever.

I think whats needed is a tutorial Try studying easing or Try making Something a little simpiler.

    Courtsey Returned (Kinda lol)

Good enough courtesy returning for me!

Will definatly be taking a look at the tutorials on here, youtube, and anywhere else I can find them. I think the best thing I can do for now is just keep looking at other peoples stuff to see what they are doing right (and what I'm doing wrong) in terms of easing, less wierd movements etc.

    Thanks

these are pretty good test, on the punching one you should of use an armless black stick and an arm stick, or maybe a bicep and that hand. that way it looks 3D instead of him reaching over another way is to hide the punching arm before it thrust, like this http://yourimg.in/j/a3th74.gif how do you upload your anims to the correct speed?

    Re: Ste's animation thread

I think making the Gif files smaller in resolution can help to increase performance, you can change the resolution by using the box in the top right corner of the box to render it. If 50% is too slow, try going down a bit until you get it right.

Not too sure if it does actually help, but to me, when I render my anims smaller, they tend to run faster.

I should probably take my own advice xD
