How to skin CS:S for dummies - BTC

    How to skin Counter-Strike: source
    A TUTORIAL FOR DUMMIES.

Hello so you are currently reading this tutorial because:

A)To learn about the basic of skinning
B)To evaluate this tutorial and criticize it
C)For the sake of reading it
    D)All of the above

If you chose atleast one of these four answers, you came to the right place.

Question 1: What will I need to skin?

A: First of all, very good question! This tutorial will use photoshop. I
f you don't have photoshop, steal some money from your dad and go buy it at
    the nearest Wal-Mart

Question 2: I can't find any of the cs:s skins, where are they?

A: Very simple, anything related to Valve games are in a GCF(Game Cache File)
Similar to Winzip in a way that it store filesto make it cleaner. You'll need a
special, yet free, program to open them.

    GCFScape

Tips to install: press next until there's no more next buttons.

Now that you're done, you can now get your vanilla skin.

    in the SteamApps folder (steam/steamApps)
You should see some GCF, and one of them is related to Cs:S.
Now what you should do is click on the one named"Counter-Strike
    Source Shared"

If you get an error, close steam and try again.

So you'll have a root folder and the child folders named:
    Cstrike
    Reslists

Now click on Cstrike, there is nothing important in Reslists

Now that you have opened Cstrike a list of folders will submerge upon your eyes.
Don't be scared, just click on "Materials". This is it, everything about skining is in this folder.
Now let's go back in time:
    Cstrike>Materials

You'll have lots of skins folder. Some them are for specific maps like De_dust 2. Other can be decals and models.
Talking about models, click on the models folder to open in.
    Cstrike>Materials>models

Now Right click on the hostages folder
    Cstrike>Materials>models>hostages
    and click extract.

Tips: Extract it somewhere smart(I.E: My documents)

Now, are you ready for the skining part! Open Photoshop and open the vtf files.
Oh no what's that? Photoshop doesn't recognize these weird extensions?
HAVE NO FEAR! MR PLUG-IN IS HERE!

    VTF PLUG-IN

    Now install correctly.
    Tips: Read the instructions.

So now you can open a vtf file, I for myself will open the file called: hostage_Sheet.

Welcome back. Now you need to apply your custom skin to the game. For this you will go
    Steam>SteamApps>Username>Counter-Strike Source>Cstrike>Materials.
Wait there's something similar in these folders order.
Of course it's structured the same as in the GCF. So what you'll do is structure the material folder
    correctly for the hostages.
    Hostages path was:
    Materials>models>hostages
Simply create a folder named models and double click on it.
All you have to do now is copy paste the extracted folder(named hostages) in it.

Tada! Now let's see if it worked!

It doesn't. This forum is probably going to change to a general tutorials forum soon.
