    Speeding up my computer

My computer has been a lot slower since a lightning storm froze my computer and I had to shut it down manually instead of using the proper "power-down" method. Now my computer is taking a long time to start. Can anyone give me a link to a program that will speed up my computer without having to back up my hard drive?

The lightning and manual shut down could have done something to the hardware. If so, your pc is fucked.

Thats what I'm thinking, because it worked perfectly before I manually shut it down.

Then it looks like either a new PC or new parts are in order

You could try giving your hard disks a defrag, format your hard disks.

I only purchase when I'm absolutely sure that it's my machine causing the problem.

For example, I couldn't play CS:S because it kept freezing, but I could play any ep2 engine just fine, same goes for Word documents... Turns out my machine was just broken, ran a memtest, switched to my old GPU, nothing worked.
