    3D sword slash

I've been trying for ages to master this technique with no success. The annoying thing is that their aren't any tutorials on it. Does anyone know how to do a 3D sword slash? You know, the one where it follows a horizontal path? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

By the way, i wasn't sure wether to post this in the help section or the pivot section so move it if you think its in the wrong section.

Apparantly the main part of sword slashes are trails.
If you pose the trails right, you can have a great 3d feeling to it.

You should also resize the sword stk.
    For example:

    Rotation

As you see the main thickness of the sword stays the same, so instead of actually "rezising" the sword stk. You should edit it so you have multiple stks. with the same thickness but with different lenghts.

Just try and make is shrink. Such as where he was doing a slash and the sword went behind him, make it large with the sword and smaller when it is close to the original point of the previous frame.

Don't reuse the trails if you are being lazy, if you have to make a new one, do it. Also try and use a very light grey to make it look more realistic, unless of course it suits the animation better.

One more tip, use Glass2K to make your windows transparent. It's a shitload easier to draw all the trails then.

    Re: 3D sword slash

No, you really only need to use the trails when the sword is moving very fast to show power and speed, it gives the perception of it already flowing through.

Such as this animation by OblivionFall (again), notice how the movements of the sword are very fast, yet it is followable and you know what is going on without it looking all choppy.

However with your one, the sword is moving fairly slowly, so maybe only a slight trail would be adequate enough, don't over do the trails, or it makes it look like it is going really slow.
