    Suggestions?

Disclaimer: This doesn't go in art chat because...because...it just doesn't >.<
We're discussing something, I'm not showing off art. And i'll never get an answer there anyway.

Well, I started messing around in paint several minutes ago, and I made some shapes...then I made the outline of a helmet. Instead of doing my normal 'fill in the color I want, and then add one bar of shading to it' technique, I thought of a simple way to make a shiny effect on surfaces with odd shape. But it kinda looks...I dunno...
    Sloppy?
    Maybe I just overdid it.

The left and right heads are slightly different variations of the other. Only a few barely noticeable changes, but whatever. And the basic shape that inspired the helmet on the far right.

Is my other way of shading better?

Don't comment on which helmet design you like better, because yes, i'm sure everyone will like the green one more >_>

Now remember, look at this from a critic's point of view. Compare the two, don't compare it to how skilled you happen to be with art.
    Thanks :3

If done properly, the top one would own the bottom one.

Cool. I like the style on the upper one, but the bottom is better, you are used to use that style, which makes you better using it.
Make more drawings with the upper shading style, and youll get used to it, and you can create it better. = Better looking.

You need photoshop man. You're very good at mspaint but it's so limited. I'd love to see what you could do with ps.

I honestly can't say I like the top one. It's a nice idea but it looks so... wrong. Sloppy in your words. Bottom one is better. It's less detailed but it's awesome because it's right. If you define "detail" as a massive variation of pixels or whatever, it just eneds up looking messy. Clean approach ftw

Edit: I slaughtered your picture in photoshop for the lulz

I do have a shit computer. But Photoshop would just confuse the hell out of me. I couldn't even grasp the basics in flash, so it would be the same for PS >_>

And as someone said, it does look like each part of the helmet has it's own lighting. That's one reason it looks so sloppy.
