    [Question] - What should I learn as my first programming Lan

    I've got a book that really great. It's called Beginning Porgramming All-In-One Desk Reference for Dummies 7 in 1 books.

    It's better than any online tutorial for programming or any other book for beginners programming I have ever seen. I'm still on book 1/7, but I have learned a lot and am really interested in learning more about programming. Most of it is just about general programming like how to compile, interpret, or what are assembly, machine code. What type of editors and compilers you can use. Just the basics. If anyone has a good online tutorial, please link it to me.

    And so the topic was about what should I learn as my first. I'm not sure, but I think it may be either Perl, or basic. And please could you link me to good editors and compilers for that language, would really appreciate it.

    I've heard C languages are difficult for novice programmers. But If Adam says so, then I'll give it a try

    They are, at least C, and C++ you have to manage memory, although not really a major issue when your starting out, it's good to know. A good place to start would be C# or Java, there are no such concerns in those, and will allow you to build things much quicker for starting out.

    I believe web designing is easier than programming. But it may have even more been easier for you after learning programming because both are a little similar with syntax and stuff..

    I learned HTML, then CSS. And now moving on to programming. My goal is to make a program and then promote it with a site I'll design. But those are all future plans, right now I just wanna get the basics done.

    Well it entirely depends on what you wan't to do. If your looking to start out very simple and more interested in web stuff, do web programming.

    Well I'm interested in both (programming and web design), but I wanna try out programming too. And then I can pick which I like better, that could also turn into something I'll do in the future as my career.

    Allowed to double post when updating right? If not then I'll merge the post.

    My first program:
    http://ifile.it/38umedq
    To download, click on request ticket. It's actually a very simple program, but more complex than the "Hello World" program. All it does is asks you #1, and then tell you your n1. Then it asks you n2, and then it tells you your #2. Then it adds both n1+n2 and gives you the sum. It's just an addition calculator. Made in C++.

    Code:
     #include <iostream>

    using namespace std;

    int main()
    {
      int thisisanumber;
      int thisisanumber2;
      cout<<"Please enter a number: ";
      cin>> thisisanumber;
      cin.ignore();
      cout<<"You entered: "<< thisisanumber <<"\n";
      cout<<"Now enter another number: ";
      cin>> thisisanumber2;
      cin.ignore();
      int numbers = thisisanumber + thisisanumber2;
      cout<<"Your second number is: "<< thisisanumber2 <<"\n";

      cout<< thisisanumber << " and " << thisisanumber2 << " = "<< numbers << "\n";
    	 system("pause");
        return 0;
    }

    It's a calculator.. use a double or at least float for some decimal precision.
